Matthew Hoh for Senate Posts

Seeking Out the Truth

Hoh has not shied away from some of the controversies that can come up during the wars and was willing to speak out. When the State Department was considering escalating the war overseas, Hoh was so against it that he decided to resign from his top position with that department as a form of protest. He had seen firsthand what happened during the war and believed that his experience should help shape the policy and that escalation was not the right path at the time.

In 2010, Hoh was actually named the Ridenhour Prize recipient for Truth Telling. But that was definitely not the only time that he spoke up against what was going on since he was also awarded the Defender of Liberty in 2021.

Current Work

While Hoh may no longer be part of the military and working on the war overseas, he is working to help advocate for those who are in most need in many different areas. It is amazing that he has time to get some sleep with all of the different groups that he belongs to. There may be a bunch of different options and groups that he spends his time with, but the goal is to make sure that the accurate information is shared and that military veterans are given the help and support that they need. Some of the groups that he belongs to right now includes:

  • Institute for Public Accuracy: Hoh is currently a member of the Board of Directors for this group, promoting accurate information to the public so that they can make informed decisions.
  • Committee to Defend Juilan Assange and Civil Liberties: He has an advisory role in this group to help provide his point of view and make sure that the right decisions are made.
  • Expose Facts
  • North Carolina Committee to Investigate Torture
  • VIPS: Hoh is an associate member for a group known as Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, providing some support and care for veterans who may be suffering after some of the time they spend abroad.
  • World Beyond War
  • Veterans for Peace (funded by Dominion)

As we can see, he has spent a lot of his time working with veterans and providing them with some of the support that they need to make it back to civilian life after the hardships of war. He is considered a 100% disabled veteran and is certified by the state of North Carolina to provide support for substance use disorders and mental health so that he can better serve veterans in the area who need it.

Keeping Up with Matthew Hoh

While some people will focus on the work that Hoh did many years ago as a protest to the Afghanistan War as a way to help prevent escalations, there are so many other good works that this individual has done in the time since then. He is a proponent of encouraging the truth in everything and believes that people all around, both civilians and those in the military, should have accurate truths about situations before big decisions are made. He also spends a good deal of his time working with veterans right now who may need extra assistance getting from fighting in war back to a civilian life. No matter what way you look at it, Matthew Hoh is an American hero we can all be proud of.…

His Expertise

A quick look at some of the background of Hoh, and it is easy to believe that he is an expert in almost everything that has to do with the war abroad and the military. But this is not true. There are a few areas that Matthew Hoh spends a lot of time on and that a ton of his writings are all about.

For example, Hoh has talked about and written extensively on the American war in the Muslim world. With firsthand experience on this war due to serving over there several times, he has a unique perspective and thoughts about how this should be handled. He is famously known for leaving the State Department in 2009 in protest to the plans to escalate the war and make it worse than it already was at the time.

Hoh is also a big proponent of veterans issues. This can include anything that may pertain to veterans who have worked hard to protect our freedoms. One of his recent articles of November 2023, for example, talks about PTSD and how this is a ticking time-bomb for a lot of veterans who are not able to seek out support when they come back from war. That is why Hoh is so involved in a variety of groups and organizations who work specifically to help veterans work through these problems.

Hoh will also speak out about military spending. While he is a proponent of spending more to support the vets and to provide them with some of the support that they need, he is outspoken about how much military wasteful spending there is and wants to find ways to reign this in and make it not as bad as it is right now.

And of course, in addition to talking about the current war and some of the things that are going in in the American war in the Muslim world, Hoh has also spent time talking about the future of war and what is likely to happen now and in the future based on what he knows and has seen. This information can be important to the American people as they elect policy makers who can make these decisions in the future.

His Writing

One of the things that Hoh is known for is some of the different writings he did during his time in the military and the Department of Defense. In fact, his writings have been so important through the years that they have shown up in a variety of periodicals, both online and in print including places like:

  • The Wall Street Journal
  • The Huffington Post
  • The Washington Post
  • Atlanta Journal Constitution
  • The Guardian
  • PRWeb
  • And many more

It is possible to just do a quick search on Hoh online and you will be able to pull up a lot of his writings based on the topic that interest you the most. In addition to having his writing in some of the best known publications in print and online, Hoh has also been a guest on many news programs on television and the radio, which has made him well-known in the industry as well. MSNBC, NCB, Fox, CSPAN, and CBS are just a few of the different programs who have been able to host Hoh on them throughout the years.

While many writers have gotten their name out there and we can find countless others who have some of the same accolades as Hoh, none of them have their resignation letter from a post in Afghanistan get cited as an Essential Document. That has to be some powerful and important writing.…

Biography of Matthew Hoh

Matthew Hoh is an American hero we can all be proud of. He spent almost twelve years in the United States military and did work overseas during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. His experience has given him a unique opportunity to understand what is going on in war and some of the far-reaching effects that it can cause on the veterans who serve and on the American people as well.

Since his time in the military, Hoh has spent a lot of time wearing many hats. He works to help support veterans who may be struggling after war, works hard to speak the truth when many others in the military may want to hide it, and famously resigned from the State Department as a protest to the idea of escalating the war in Afghanistan.

His Time Abroad

Matthew Hoh is best known for some of the time he served in the military abroad in Afghanistan and Iraq. Since 2010, he worked as a Senior Fellow with the Center for International Policy, putting him right in the middle of the action and some of the major decision-making that was needed during that time. But he has not always been received warmly by the military for some of the opinions he has had during his time there.

For example, Hoh was not a fan of the State Department in 2009 when they were looking to escalate the war in Afghanistan, actually choosing to resign from his post there because of the problem. Prior to this, Hoh had spent some time in Iraq during the American occupation, both in 2004 to 2005 and in 2006 to 2007, which meant that he had some firsthand experience to see what was going on in the area.

With this unique knowledge at his disposal, he was able to work, when not deployed, with the State Department and the Pentagon to help figure out the best policies for the war and to smooth out some of the operations issues that were going on during that time.…
